What is this group?
I.D. is an Auckland-based queer youth group, providing social contact outside of a night club environment for queer and questioning youth. We have been meeting for over a decade. I.D. is drug, smoke and alcohol free.
Check out our Facebook group!
Who goes to it?
Anyone from age 18 to 27. Many are questioning or have just recently come out and others might be new to Auckland and are looking to make more friends. We’re here for people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, takataapui or fa’afafine, asexual, intersex or curious and questioning.
When do we meet?
Every Sunday (except public holidays) 5pm onwards. We meet at the Rainbow Youth Centre, 281 Karangahape Road.
Facilitators
There are facilitators who run the group. You can talk to them in private if you need to. They will let you know about upcoming events and other Rainbow Youth activities. We often hold events other than our regular cafe meetings, like movie nights, shows, bowling, dinners, pool, karaoke, laser strike and picnics.
The current facilitators are James and Cordelia. Many of the facilitators from the regional groups also come along to I.D. most Sundays. You can contact them by email - info@rainbowyouth.org.nz, or by leaving a message at the Rainbow Youth office on (09) 376 4155
We’re always open to having new facilitators, so if you wanna get more involved with Rainbow Youth, it’s a great way to start!
